First-Year Lessons in Public Speaking

From handling the initial request and dealing with the pressure that can arise, to delivering your talk with confidence, we will reflect on practical strategies to help you manage stress at each stage. We will explore the art of crafting your message and delivering it effectively, tailored to different formats such as online or in-person engagements, with or without slides. We will share valuable insights on captivating your audience and making a lasting impact.

Cécile Deprez

Cécile is a researcher at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) on the topic of satellite positioning. In addition to her research, Cécile co-founded and coordinates the DLR women and gender minorities networks well as the Pride@DLR and DLR Internationals initiatives. As a side activity, Cécile is active as a public speaker on the topics of sexism, allyship and microaggressions in STEM fields. As a volunteer, she co-founded and manages Sexisme Flop, an association calling out brands making use of sexist advertising, and acts as coordinator of the Women in Aerospace Europe (WIA-E) working group on Visibility of Women in STEM.
