Confidence Beyond Skills - What Really Holds Women Back in Tech Career

“One more course, and then I’ll be ready…” – how many times have you had this thought? Many women in tech keep investing in new skills, courses, and certifications – yet still feel stuck, invisible, or “not ready enough” for the next step in their careers.

In this talk, we will look beyond technical competence and explore less visible factors that often have a much stronger impact on career growth – such as self-trust, fear of visibility, internalized expectations, and the emotional effects of burnout or layoffs.

I will share common patterns I see among highly capable women and why “just improving skills” or getting more certificates is often not the real solution.

You will leave with new perspectives and simple reflection tools to better understand what is holding you back – and how to move forward in a more aligned and sustainable way.

Identity & Transition Coach

Hi, I’m Marina. Officially, I’m a Professional Identity & Transition Coach (working within ICF and EMCC ethical frameworks). In reality, what I do is support women in tech who are navigating career transitions, burnout, and self-doubt – helping them find inner support instead of relying on a constantly changing world. I come from tech myself, with 14 years of experience in both technical and people leadership roles across multiple domains and two countries. I shifted into coaching last year because this is what brings the most meaning to my professional path. I love how our brain works, and I love seeing those moments when people suddenly realize: “Wait… I could actually do it like this?" Also – I really love foxes. You’ll probably see them everywhere in my content. Curious why? Just ask, I’m happy to share 🦊
